Slip Skirt Styling

Updated: Jul 10

Move over LBD, its the time of the SSS (satin slip skirt) and being a skirt means its mix and match heaven for footwear and top half! This item is great for the school run, the office, the holiday and working from home!

Further to a recent reel I shared on how to style it I have popped together some looks from current stock across the high street to enjoy! Use the inspiration to shop the high street, shop your wardrobe or shop preloved!

What's your favourite way to wear a satin slip skirt? Don't forget your big supportive knickers ladies! Unlike the denim skirt this has very little support at that tummy area but that's no reason not to consider it a valuable piece in that wardrobe!

Work from Home

With an elasticated waist and a relaxed fit to it this is going to be super comfortable whilst sat at that desk but you will still feel an element of glam and therefore likely to get productive! I love it teamed with this stripe tee, you can either create a tucked in look with a hair tie or simply allow it to hang loose. I also want to highlight this gorgeous leather box bag from small business Alice's Wonders, she has some fab accessories to add to your wardrobe.

Shopping Trip

Perhaps you have a shopping trip planned with the other half or girls! Trainers are a must for shopping comfort and who doesn't love red teamed with leopard! This gorgeous top from Mint Velvet is a great short length so it keeps your proportions in check and no need to tuck! With a lovely busy print no necklace is needed but with bare arms be sure to add some arm candy!

Lunch Date

I am absolutely in love with waistcoats right now and they seem to work with all bottoms, as well as this slip skirt! They work well with shorts, jeans wide leg trousers so the waist coat is just as versatile as the slip skirt! It's a great length again which means no need to tuck but it sits neatly just below the waist. There are longer options available but these can be tricky when they hit your hip line, so save the longer ones for a more fitted jean.

Office

This skirt can be really smartened up for the office whether you decide to tuck the shirt or wear it open with a fitted vest underneath. Ensure your shirt isn't oversized as with the material weight of the skirt it can create those lumps and bumps around the waistline so you may need to get clever with the appearance of tucking without actual tucking! If you didn't want to go toes exposed Id suggest a little pump, loafer or Mary-Jane!

Cocktails

A biased slip skirt can be so flattering, especially worn with heels and this is the perfect evening look! Teamed with a classic court it oozes glamour and sophistication and this will no doubt make you feel super glam! I always recommend that if you invest in anything it be shoes and bags as essentially these will always fit. I love a shoe from LK Bennett, true to size, super comfy and a wardrobe lifer! Don't forget your red lip ladies!

Dinner

Whether it be a work dinner or dinner date you cant go wrong with a plain black waistcoat teamed with your satin slip skirt! I have used the accessories to get in some leopard print and metallic details and you are ready to go. The satin slip skirts feel so comfortable to wear and with an elasticated waistband it is the perfect style to sit down and enjoy a big dinner type skirt!

Holiday

It may be black but monochrome is a great basis to your holiday capsule wardrobe! I love this crochet scallop edge top that will sit nicely against the skirt and really show off the detail in the design. This is a great evening outfit for your holiday but still very cool and comfortable to wear. The tote is a good size to shove all your stuff into, particularly games to entertain the minis!

So, whether you have a satin skirt already hanging up in your wardrobe, are in need of some inspiration or are yet to add it in, hopefully this blog has given you some valuable outfit inspiration and a good choice of options to pick from! Although a simple piece of clothing the fabric weights, quality and length can all be very varied so it may be worth ordering a few of the skirts to compare how they all fit at home with pieces already in your wardrobe.

Remember to also look on Vinted as they may also have some options to consider at great prices!
